Lundgaard Park Fundraising Campaign

Mitch Lundgaard’s legacy will live on in the community of Appleton. His ultimate sacrifice created a ripple effect that transcends throughout the community to this day.

Working with the people and community impacted the most by Mitch Lundgaard, our goal is to create an inclusive, innovative, meaningful, and sustainable place for children to grow and thrive, so that they can one day grow up and live out Mitch Lundgaard’s legacy by making the world a better place.

Please consider donating to help make this vision a reality.

Project Goals

Playgrounds and playscapes bring children and neighbors together to engage in much-needed laughter and play. We will work to create an inclusive, innovative, meaningful, and sustainable place for children to grow and thrive, so that they can one day grow up and live out Mitch Lundgaard’s legacy by making the world a better place.

For nearly two years, the Appleton community, Fire Department, and Firefighters Association has been advocating for the Lundgaard family and playing an integral role in honoring Mitch Lundgaard’s memory. The new park will resonate with their service-minded nature and commitment to the community by creating a calming outdoor experience for rest, relaxation, and reflection.

Mitch Lundgaard’s legacy has extended past his inner circle to resonate with the entire Appleton community. As a well-known regional leader, the City has the opportunity for this park to tie into recent initiatives like the Climate Action Plan and others to create an innovative and sustainable place that grows with the community.

The way Mitch Lundgaard lived his life left a lasting impact that radiates far beyond those who knew him personally. His reputation as a loving father, husband, and friend, dedicated firefighter, and proud resident of the Appleton community continues to have a far-reaching ripple effect on his loved ones, coworkers, and the greater community and beyond. Lundgaard Park is an opportunity to embody his kind nature and celebrate his passion for serving others and making the world a better place.

generations to come.

Our goal, which covers the full cost of the park transformation and amenities, is to raise $4.5 million dollars for the Friends of the Appleton Fire Department.
