General Firefighting Equipment
Firefighting is an expensive profession. Firefighting equipment is heavy duty and has to take the punishment of working in very tough environments. The Appleton Fire Department has a very good maintenance program to ensure all equipment is in working order. Like everything else, firefighting equipment has a life span. We welcome donations to offset department costs for equipment replacements.
The cost of firefighting:
The cost for turnout pants and a jacket is $1,750. This does not count boots, gloves or helmets.
The cost of a single Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus and air bottle (an air pack worn while fighting a fire) is $7,500.
The cost of a Thermal Imaging Camera, allowing firefighters to peer through smoke and black-out conditions, is $10,000 per camera.
Donations, no matter the amount, help!
