Scholarships
Protecting the safety of firefighters and citizens in our community is vital to our mission. Thanks to very gracious and generous donors, the Friends of the Appleton Fire Department is able to award scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing careers in the fire service.
Mert Schultz Scholarship

Our firefighting brother, Mert Schultz, proudly wore the uniform of the Appleton Fire Department from 1943 to 1967, rising through the ranks to retire as an Assistant Chief. In 2011, Mert’s family set aside funds to support those who are studying to enter the noble and honorable profession of firefighting.
Appleton Fire Department Auxiliary
Sponsor: Fox Valley Technical College
The Appleton Fire Department Auxiliary was founded to support the members of the Appleton Fire Department. Fox Valley Technical College includes this fund with its endowments.
Endowment Fund
In an effort to sustain long-term growth, the Friends of the Appleton Fire Department has established an endowment fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. The principle within this fund will not be used, but the interest earned will be distributed by the board of directors. If you would like your donation to become a lasting legacy, you can contribute to the endowment fund by indicating that on your donation, or by donating to our fund through the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region.
